Famous Last Words; Storybook and Football

This week's reading consisted of reading both units of Adam and Eve. While I knew the story beforehand, I really enjoyed being able to retell it in my own words so that is is perhaps more attuned to contemporary language. In addition, I also worked on my storybook idea which I am really excited to begin. I think some of the stories I found regarding the Greek gods will be interesting to read, and I cannot wait to share it with my own taste. My storybook is going to present the Greek gods and other Greek mythological figures as applicants to colleges, and I will use their "college applications" to retell their stories and myths. I believe the stories of Apollo, Artemis, and Atlas that I have found will lead to some of noteworthy applications. Outside of school, I was really excited to have gone to the first football game last Sunday. I am a huge fan of night football games, and the white-out theme created a cool and new atmosphere that I had never experienced before. Even though the game was an evening kickoff, the weather was still quite hot which took away from the enjoyment of the game somewhat. Nevertheless, I am always happy about a Sooner win, and I cannot wait to go to other games this season. Next week, I am excited to begin the second part of the Classical/Biblical section as I am probably going to read the Jewish Fairy Tales. Additionally, my other classes are starting to pick up now that the semester has started to roll so that mean midterms will be beginning soon as well. I hope to use my reading as a good reprieve from my studying as I certainly enjoy reading stories and myths more than studying for microbiology and genetics.

Introducing the RealNeal

Wow. It is crazy to think that I am already back in Norman for my junior year. While my first two years were full of unique experiences, I never imagined that I would be a writing a blog to begin my third year! To start off, I am psychology major on the pre medicine track. Ever since I took psychology in high school I found studying the mind and the way people act so interesting. However, I always had the goal of becoming a physician which explains the pre-med track.  Although I am an OU student, I still consider myself a proud Texan. I come from a relatively small town in East Texas where high school football is king and perhaps the most famous thing is that Matthew Mccounaughey graduated from my high school (he even came to our high school graduation this year to give a speech!). Barcelona: My Favorite Place

A Christmas trip to Barcelona following my first semester at OU introduced me to a city that captured my heart. Because of my previous experience in highschool taking art history, I was engrossed in the modern architecture of the city, mainly of the work of acclaimed architect Antonio Gaudi.  Moreover, the night life and unique Catalan traditions conveyed a city with a blend of modern and traditional tastes.  Finally, as a huge soccer fan I was amazed by the sight of Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona FC and one of the cathedrals of soccer.
